Typically, a case erector opens a folded blank with a pre-made side seam and then closes and seals the base flaps. This example shows cases transported through the machine on their side. An alternative configuration opens and seals the base flaps in an upright position. Normally, erected cases are conveyed directly to a downstream packing operation.
